In this session, join Rob Taylor in the 90º Studio as he takes you through Part 1 of the  ‘journey’ of a mix.

2. A Mix Journey Pt 2

In this session, join Rob Taylor in the 90º Studio as he takes you through Part 2 of the  ‘journey’ of a mix.

Focussed on the following integral steps in the mix engineer’s process:

  • EQ and Compression
  • The aesthetics of balancing the mix
  • Finalising your mix

3. Mix To master

In this Masterclass session, join Rob Taylor in the 90º Studio as he delves into a senior engineer’s approach, the methodology and techniques used, to preparing a mix for mastering and commercial release.

  • Professional mixing principles

  • Balancing the mix (using your mix aesthetic)

  • Analog vs digital summing

About Rob Taylor

In a career in audio production spanning more than 25 years, Rob Taylor has worked with a plethora of national and international acts achieving many gold and platinum sales awards (The Whitlams, Grinspoon, the Screaming Jets, DefFX, Wendy Matthews, Robyn Loau, Zoe Badwi, Dirty Pink Jeans, Eva Trout, Yothu Yindi, Sneeze, Primary, Sarah McLeod, Kids at Risk, INXS and Ratcat to mention a few) . He’s been nominated three times for ARIA engineer and producer of the year, received four Newcastle Music Awards, produced a Triple J Hottest 100 #1 single and the #17 Triple J Hottest Australian album of all time. He’s have also been involved extensively in the production and composition of music that has been used in advertising, film & TV programs including Hollywood films. A world-class audio engineer and music producer with a speciality for mixing.

Notably in his career, he was chief engineer at two premier recording facilities in Australia being Albert’s Studios in Sydney, and the Grove Studios on the Central Coast between 1996 and 2002. He was also co-owner of ‘48VOLT’ studio in Ultimo, Sydney in the early 90s, which played host to many known artists.
Currently, Rob is undertaking doctoral studies (PhD) and research in audio design science at the University of Newcastle.
